National Museum of Naval Aviation

by Mike Bobe

For those of you who are not fortunate enough to live in Pensacola, you might wonder, "Why should I go to Pensacola?" (Other than the obvious choice to visit Bobe's Hobby House, of course!) Well, apart from our beautiful beaches, we also have one of the finest aviation museums in the country, if not the world. The National Museum of Naval Aviation is just 15 or 20 minutes from our store! Visitors to the museum are now asked to use the west entrance to the base, so just come by and see us, and we'll give you directions.

The Naval Aviation museum houses an incredible collection of aircraft, memorabilia, models, and much more from throughout the history of Naval Aviation. Among the many highlights is the NC-4 which made the first transatlantic flight up to Navy One, the S-3 that landed President George Bush on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Other attractions include an IMAX Theater, the CUBI Bar, and much much more. You can visit their website at http://naval.aviation.museum/home.html.

The following are pictures I have taken on various recent trips to the museum. The displays are constantly changing, so may not be as they appear in these photos. I will continue to post new pictures from time to time as I am able. Hope you enjoy them!
